A very entertaining play with dances and humorous songs. A dramatized version of a short story written by Munshi Premchand on the power of forgiveness to end the evil of alcoholism. Maiku, a terror of the society, regularity drinking with his friends is finally converted by the forgiving nature of some concerned volunteers. As a result Maiku joins the volunteers to fight against the evil of alcoholism. The play calls for self-confidence, will power and unity to bring social change. The golden command, If someone slaps you on your right cheek, show him the left cheek too proves the power of Ahimsa and forgiveness in causing social change through true conversion of stony hearts.

The insensitivity and the callous attitude of the administration, the religious leaders, the politicians and the common people towards the pain and struggle of the poor is depicted with comical scenes making you to spilt your sides with laughter. The play challanges you to question conventional social values, hypocritical religiosity, selfishness and egoism. Who will save those fallen in the socio-religio, political, cultural and intellectual pits? Shall we wait for outside help or organise ourselves to come out of the pits?

The common man proves that a large-heartedness beyond boundaries can re-establish peace and harmony. The play is based on some real incidents which occurred in Varanasi. It appeals to get rid of communal and other type of prejudices and to work for a harmonious society.
